Read on Jamaica: Day 2 at Refuge

This July, national early literacy presenter and author, Jan Richardson, and three Reading Recovery teachers; Bonnie Porter, Chris Thiel, & Heather Micheli will travel to a small farming village outside of Montego Bay in Jamaica. We will be partnering with teachers at the Refuge Primary School in Trelawny who have expressed a desire to learn how to better meet the varied needs of their students. We hope to expand this project to include other Jamaican communities.

Our goal is two fold: to provide staff development on using guided reading to teach students at their instructional level and to supply appropriate materials for teaching guided reading. The books we hope to provide will be used for hundreds of students at all different reading levels for years to come.

Our hope is point others to Christ so that they may experience his realness and grace! To Him be the glory!
