To Him who is able to do immeasurabley more than all we ask or imagine... be glory!

Over a week has past since we returned from our Jamaican adventure.  We are more excited now than ever.  It was a blessing to experience God at work in our lives and the lives of the Jamaican friends we came to serve.  Our plans were not always God's plans.  The result was so much more than we could have imagined!

Our flights went well until we arrived in Montego Bay and learned all our luggage, including most of our teaching materials, were still in Miami.  We also had some miscommunication at the car rental office.  It took us over two hours, but finally we were ready to leave the airport.  Jon and Emily (Bonnie's daughter and son-in-law) had hired a driver to help us with our luggage and lead us to our hotel.  We were going to follow the driver with the rental car, but were a bit nervous, since it was our first time driving on the left side of the road, and we would be on a dark, busy highway.

Waiting for our rental car

On our flight from Miami to Montego Bay, Chris made friends with a Jamaican gentleman named Bobby.  Bobby was returning to his home in Trelawny, very near where we would be working.  Well, it turned out that Bobby was a good friend of our driver, Hugh, and offered to follow Hugh and drive the rental car for us to the hotel.  We couldn't stop smiling as we thought about how God used Chris's airplane buddy to provide safety on this late night drive.

Early the next morning we set off for Refuge Primary School.  The trip was very adventurous, what with Bonnie driving on the left (Chris sure she was about to go off the edge of the road) and all the beautiful and interesting sights along the way.

Over a week has gone by since we returned from our Jamaican adventure.  Last Sunday in a sermon one of our pastors said being a courageous Christian requires a leap of faith, either big or small.  This is what our adventure was really all about... a series of leaps of faith... and how God showed up in a BIG way!

We arrived late Tuesday night, July 5th, in Montego Bay.  Our flights went well up until the point we realized all our luggage, included many teaching materials and student books, stayed behind in Miami.  It was a good thing (God thing) that Bonnie's daughter, Emily had brought 100lbs of our books to Jamaica earlier in the month!  As you saw in some of our previous pictures, the kids couldn't get enough of the books.

First Day At Refuge

Imagine our surprise when over 30 students showed up to be apart of this event.  We scrambled to find books at multiple levels to occupy them during the presentation.  "Miss, Miss, may I have a book too?"
Sharing books from our generous donators.  The students read and traded many times.

This sign is in the courtyards of Refuge.  The staff and students most definitely work diligently to make a positive difference in their school and community.

On our way...

Our bags are checked, our passports are in hand, and we are ready to see God at work as we continue this journey.
